On January 1, 2018, the shipbuilding business of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries made a new start with the establishment of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
This new corporate name was chosen to reflect MHI's long history and tradition in shipbuilding, dating back to 1884 when Mitsubishi Mail Steamship Company Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works was launched, paralleling the start of Japan’s modernization.
Throughout our more than 130-year history in the shipbuilding business, we have adapted to changing environments, building vessels that reflect the needs of “Maritime Logistics,” “Marine Resources,” “Ocean Leisure,” and “Maritime Safety,” while constantly focused on our customer-first policy.
The world is continuing to change at a rapid pace. At Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, we will continue to promote management innovation and technology development, striving to be the source of solutions for the challenges faced by customers around the world.
In shipbuilding, in addition to reliable technical capabilities, a strong passion by each individual geared to customer satisfaction is essential. We remain fully committed to exerting all of our skills and passions in order to continue advancing the customer’s business and social progress.
